FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

            The Will County Recorder’s Office is providing the following information in conformance with the Freedom of Information Act 5 ILCS 120/1 et seq.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Recorder’s Office is set forth by state statute at 55 ILCS 5/3-5010 which states:

Sec. 3‑5010. Duties of Recorder.
              (1) Every recorder shall, as soon as practicable after the receipt of any instrument in writing in his office, entitled to be recorded, record the same at length in the order of time of its reception, in well bound books to be provided for that purpose. In counties of 500,000 or more inhabitants, the recorder may microphotograph or otherwise reproduce on film any of such instruments in the manner provided by law.



 

 

OFFICE LOCATIONS

The Will County Recorder’s Office has two locations.

The main office is located at, 58 East Clinton Street, Suite 100, Joliet, Illinois 60432.

The satellite office is located at 241 Canterbury Dr, Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440.

 

EMPLOYEES/BUDGET

The Will County Recorder’s Office employes approximately 30 employees including 28 full time employees and 2 part-time employees. The approximate cumulative budget for FY-2010 is $2,323,031.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUESTS

Although Freedom of Information Act requests may be submitted via facsimile or e-mail through the Will County Recorder’s website at www.willcountyrecorder.com, the Office encourages the public to submit their requests via U.S. mail, hand delivery or courier to the following address: Will County Recorder of Deed’s Office, 58 East Clinton Street, Suite 100, Joliet Illinois, 60432. The following are the Will County Recorder’s Office designated Freedom of Information Officers:

FEES

            Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act the Will County Recorder will charge the following fees:

If a specific fee is set by statute the statutory fee will be charged.

Black and White copies (legal or letter size):  No fee for the first 50 pages, $0.15 for each additional printed page
Color copies: 8 ½ x11 One sided $.14 per print Two-sided $.25 per print
8 ½ x14 One sided $.15 per print Two-sided $.26 per print
8 ½ x17 One sided $.16 per print Two-sided $.27 per print
CD’s plus envelope: $0.25
Certification: $1.00 per record
